Today, like everyday, I picked up the phone and ordered lunch for the office. We alternate between two places, and they know us by name because we order from there so much. Today, I ordered from the place where the owner answers the phone, and knows me personally by name.
I call, and say, “I’d like to place an order for delivery.” I say my company name and address, to which the owner says, “This is Jennifer, right?“
I politely correct him and say it’s Jacqueline, and give him our lunch order.
Now, granted, he sometimes calls me by our old receptionist’s name, as she used to place the lunch order. But her name was nowhere close to Jennifer, so I don’t know where he got that from.
This is not the first time this has happened either, and I can’t understand how people get “Jennifer” from “Jacqueline.”
I just smiled, and thought, “What are the chances of that happening?”
