The Holidays, Grief, and You

I’ve blogged about it before, but I think it is important to discuss again. The holidays can be a very difficult time for anyone, especially those who may be grieving. This being my 7th Christmas without Jen, I feel like I may have some advice that I can share with anyone (and everyone) who may be having some sadness in their hearts this (and any) holiday season.

My New Necklace

For the past seven Christmases, my Mom has always gone out of her way to get my dad, brother, and myself, something very special in memory of Jen. This past Christmas, my Mom got me a beautiful silver charm.

Nifangel is Back

Guess who?

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012

No, this is not going to be a post about the world ending in 2012.

Rather, it is a reflection on the ending of the first year where my sister was not alive. I know I said something about this at the end of 2010, where a woman made a comment about the first New Years without her son, but now we are approaching the end of the first year with no Niff. As of right now, I am not as upset as I was last year, and I even have plans to go out this New Years Eve. It is just crazy to think how quickly 2011 passed, and that is has been just over 16 months since Jenn’s passing (hard to even┬ácomprehend).

2011 Tiffany & Co. Christmas Ornament

The time for my semi-annual pilgrimage to Tiffany & Co. is upon us, and I did a quick preview of the new ornaments. I popped into the Tiffanys at The Westchester, and found my way to the new ornaments. I was looking at the new designs, and instantly fell in love with one particular design.

Now What?

So, the holidays have passed, and we have entered a new year. And I am not sure how to feel.

I have this odd feeling. I was so worried about facing Christmas, and now that it is over, I feel different. I was even worried about New Years. One woman at a support group my Mom and I went to made a statement one day, that really stuck with me (and I kinda wish it didn’t).

My Niff Blanket

Christmas Eve, I went up to my room, and was getting ready for bed, when I noticed a box on my bed.

I shall spare you the personal details, but in the box was a blanket made from pictures of Jen and myself.
